With so many games today focused on technology, even older games like Uno are including automatic game pieces to spit out cards or shuffle them. What’s wrong with a card game just being a card game? So if you are tired of all the gizmos, and if you are tired of games that just require you to have good hand-eye coordination while your eyes stay glued the screen, then the challenging game of Hand n’ Foot might be just the thing you are looking for.
You have never seen playing cards like this. A throw back to earlier times, the cards include “ladies,” “lords,” “jokers,” “jesters,” and “villains.” The object of the game is to play 22 cards on the table and to collect at least 3 groups of 7 or more cards each, and to obtain the highest score. Anywhere between 2 and 6 people can play at a time, although the recommended number is 4. The game is a great pastime for people ages 10 to 99+, and generally takes an hour or more to play.
The title of the game comes from the names of the two discard piles, the Hand and the Foot. The cards in the Hand must be played before the Foot. It requires skill and strategy with options like “freezing” decks and asking your partner permission to exit the game by going out. While mastering the complex rules of the game may take you a couple of tries, once you have a good handle on how to play the game it is sure to be a family favorite. With no buttons to hit, just brains to rely on, the Hand n’ Foot game is a refreshing change of pace for game night.
