Face Cards; Values and Uses

The Hand n Foot game can be very overwhelming for beginners as there is so much to keep track of. Here we will go over the different face cards, their values and their uses.

Let's begin with a description of each card starting with the "Lady". There are two ways to play a Lady; by using it as a discard and/or by adding it to a clean group, both ways have their advantages. By using it as a discard you block the next player from being able to pick up the discard stack. If you add it to a clean group, you earn 100 bonus points. Be cautioned; if you still have a Lady in your hand when an opponent goes out, she will count as 500 points against you or your team.

The next card in the deck is the "Lord", which is the highest card in the suit. It is worth 20 points and is played the same as suit cards 1-12.

The "Villain" is played like the Lady; it blocks the next following player from picking up the discard pile. However, the Villain is played only as discard; it can never be added to a group, clean or dirty or a meld. The Villain is also worth no points.

Wild Cards on next on the list, this is a very versatile card. You can add one wild card to two suit cards in order to start a group. Additionally, you can make groups of wild cards only if you wish. There are two wild card point values; the Joker is worth 50 and the Jester, 25 points. Wild cards can also be used for "defense".
