As with most fascinating board games, Hand N Foot requires a great deal of attention to detail. Once you are involved in a heated game, you will find that the basic rules come rather easily, but if you are just starting out these rules can seem slightly more complicated. Scoring is a necessary part of Hand N Foot, but you must try and remember the different scores in order to play the game properly.
Exact 22 Card Draws equal 100 points; Clean Groups equal 500 points; Dirty Groups equal 300 points; Wild Card Groups equal 2000 points; and Going Out Ladies equal 100 points. Once you understand the value of each card, and card group, you can then begin to mark scores accordingly. To start, add the total point value of the unplayed cards. Then, add up all the cards on the board according to face value. Next, add the total base score to the total card count, and finally, subtract the unplayed card points.
It is a good idea to mark the value points for each type of card (and card group) somewhere near the playing table, so that you can easily tabulate each game that you play. If you are playing a number of games, simply add the previous score onto the current one, and determine the winner from this scoring. Hand N Foot is a fun game to play, but since this game can last for hours, it is best to get all of the basic rules down before initiating any sort of play.
