The Hand 'n Foot game is all about scoring as many points as you can, whether you are playing in a partnership or as an individual. There are numerous ways to score points in the game, and unlike some types of games where you are lucky to come away with 10 points, your tallies can get sky high in games of Hand 'n Foot.
A great way to run up those point totals is by creating Groups. While it is required to create Melds as you play the game, which are three or more cards of the same rank, it is not necessarily required that you make a set number of Groups. A Group distinguishes itself from a Meld by consisting of seven or more cards. You may start a Group with a Meld of three or more cards, with additional cards being added later. However, it is not permissible to have sequences or runs.
There are also different "levels" of Groups within the game. For example, if you have seven or more cards that are all the same then you have a "Clean Group." This Group made up of Natural cards counts as 500 points. However, if there are wild cards in the Group then it becomes a "Dirty Group," and its points value is reduced to 300. On the other hand, if you can make up a Group out of only wild cards you are looking at 2000 points. Cap off any Group with a lady card and you get 100 extra points. Keep your pencil sharpened because there are a lot of tally marks to keep in this game. The better you get, the higher your score.
