Helpful Tips For Getting Started

Sometimes when you start off as a beginner you can really feel the learning curve of a game.  And it is fair to say that Hand 'n Foot is a game that is a little more complicated than your typical games of Uno, for example.  However, you will find that after playing a couple of rounds you will get the hang of it.  In the meantime, here are a couple of tips to help you out as you get started.

One of the most important factors in whether you win or lose your game of Hand 'n Foot is which stack of cards you select for your Hand and which becomes your Foot. This decision can only be made at the start of the game, and it is important because you must play all the cards out of the Hand before you can get started on the Foot.  But how do you know which stack to choose?  It is generally better to make the pile with a lady or a wild card showing your Hand.  These will be useful to you to play because you can easily freeze the discard stack.

Remember, too, that the object of the game is to create melds and groups, so you will want to create a meld as soon as you are able to.  This allows your partner to have something to work off of.  Before you create a group made up of wild cards, however, consider that you have to have at least two dirty groups to go out.  This means at least two of your groups have to contain a wild card. It is better to save those wilds for other groups so that you can control the length of the game.  It's great strategy for winning.
