When you're learning how to play Hand 'n Foot, there are a lot of rules to keep in mind. In fact, there are plenty of things you should AVOID doing, either because it's a rotten strategy or because it's flat out against the rules. Here's a list of the things you shouldn't do when playing Hand 'n Foot.
* Don't peek. When you're picking up the 22 cards that will consist of your Hand and Foot, don't rustle through all the cards to figure out your best hand. You may only look at the card on the bottom of both decks.
* Don't play off your opponent's groups. Not only is it against the rules, it's self-defeating. You want to beat them mercilessly, not give them free points!
* Don't go out until your partner says it's OK. It's against the rules. Besides, this is what having a partner is all about: The two of you need to agree and play nice with each other.
* Don't add more than three Jesters or Jokers to your a card group. They're dirty fellows. Sure, you're allowed to have dirty groups, but let's keep it reasonable.
* Don't sit on your Foot. Some people like to do that. If you want your lovely Hand 'n Foot cards to stay in good shape, please refrain from sitting on them.
* Don't keep the Lady in your hand. She can bless you with extra points if you use her to cap a clean group, but this treacherous woman will turn around and stab you in the back if you still have her in your hand when your opponent goes out. She'll steal 500 points from you!
