Keeping Score

Unlike some games where you are trying to keep your score as low as possible, Hand 'n Foot is a card game that can set score totals sky high.  The goal in Hand 'n Foot is to gather as many points as possible, and there are plenty of opportunities to do so.  After all, games tend to be much more fun when you can boast about your hundreds or thousands of points!

You will want to score each round of the game separately, and come up with a net score for each round.  There are four rounds for each game of Hand 'n Foot.  You will determine your base score based on the base point total for each one of your groups.  For exactly drawing 22 cards you receive 100 points.  For a wild card group you receive 2000 points.  Going out nets you 100 points, and a lady capping a clean group gets you 100 as well.  Clean groups win you 500 points, dirty groups are 300.

It sounds like your score can be enormous, but keep in mind there are still things to score.  Next, you need to tally the points from all the cards that you haven't played yet.  Both teams need to do this, and that includes the cards in the Foot.  Then you tally up the points of the cards that have been played on the board.  To arrive at your net score you will want to add together your base score with the sum of the points on the board.  From this you subtract the total of the cards left in your hand.  Remember too, a lady left in your hand at the end of the round costs 500 points against you, for each one.  So plan your strategy carefully.
