What's It All Worth?

When it comes to playing games of Hand 'n Foot, there are certain cards that are going to get you farther when it comes to point values than others.  And some cards have a tendency to act like double-edged swords, while they might do well for you in some situations they must be handled with care or they will come back to bite you in the end.

One of the key components of scoring is coming up with base values for all of your groups after a player has successfully gone out.  In order to do this, you have to add up all the values of each card within a group. Some groups will be much more valuable than others.  For example, the Joker is the most valuable card in play at 50 points.  While the Jester also serves as a wild card, it is only worth half the points of the Joker at 25.  A Lord card is valued at 20 points, but the Villain isn't worth any at all. Cards numbered 7 through 12 are valued at 10 points a piece, which might surprise some players who might expect to value numerical cards based on their individual cards.  Cards numbered 1 - 6 are valued at 5 points each.  This makes it much easier to count up points, which after four rounds can get to be quite high.  Lady cards also aren't worth anything, so long as they are capping a Clean Group.

Knowing how much certain cards are worth is an important part of formulating your Hand 'n Foot strategy.  Obviously, the more groups that you have out of cards in the 7 to 12 range, the more points  you are going to accumulate, rather than if you just focus on cards 1 through 6.  Play your cards right, and you will have some very impressive Hand 'n Foot scores.
