Hand ‘n Foot is not the only game that involves a variety of hands in one game. If you like the idea of playing multiple rounds and multiple hands, you might also want to try out the game of Elevator, where players must bid how many tricks he or she can win from every hand.
The game can be played by 3 players, or up to 7 players, but it is usually best played with an even number of 4 or 6. A standard deck of 52 cards is used to play, with Aces being the high card. The dealer deals each player hands with varying numbers of cards. In a game with 4 players, the first hand would contain 10 cards, the second would have 9, the third would have 8, and so on until the dealer dealt hands that contained only 1 card. On each hand, players must bid how many tricks he or she will win, and then must win exactly as much as the bid. There are point penalties for over or undershooting a bid, and at least 1 player will incur these penalties in every round because of the number of tricks a player must bid exceeds the number of tricks available in a given hand.
Hand ‘n Foot, on the other hand, allows players to have both their dealt hands at once, and select which group to start with. Thus it is a game that features more strategy than Elevator allows its players. Still, it is enjoyable to play a game that has an extended period of play and many people who enjoy Hand ‘n Foot may find that they enjoy Elevator as well and vice versa. Those that like to keep score will certainly make the most out of both games.
