You might be thinking that Hand ‘n Foot is an odd sort of card game because it isn’t reliant on your standard 52 card deck, as so many card games are. However, there are actually a number of other games that use other types of cards for their game play. Just as with Hand ‘n Foot, the artistic designs of these cards are worth taking a look at the pack merely for their aesthetic value as well as for the enjoyable game play that they offer.
Go Stop is a game that falls into this category. It is a game that features the use of Japanese Flower cards, which are now used most prominently in Korea. Originally the cards were created during a time when playing games with 4-suited card decks were prohibited by law. Go Stop only allows 2 to 3 players to play at one time, unlike Hand ‘n Foot where larger numbers of people are able to play. Flower cards are sold in packs of 48 cards, with 4 cards corresponding to each of the 12 months of the year. The Flower cards also feature a ribbon, an animal, ribbons, or other features. These groupings are somewhat uneven, as there are 9 animals, 10 ribbons, and 24 junk, etc.
The actual game play is much like a fishing game that requires each player to collect matching pairs. There are certain collections which can be created, but the actual game play doesn’t much resemble Hand ‘n Foot. However the beautiful cards may be a welcomed change for those looking for a fresh change. Add it to your Hand ‘n Foot decks for use when your standard decks are looking a little tired.
